GAme Rules

Please emphasize all levels of youth soccer as a learning experience for all players. the soccer pitch should be an extension of the classroom.


Sportsmanship is the expectation for all players, coaches, parents, and fans!

  • U5-U8 Game Rules

    • # of Players: 4v4
    • Ball Size: 3
    • Game Length: 4 10-minute quarters
    • Goal Size: 4'x6'
    • Player’s Equipment: ALL players shall wear shin guards. Non-uniform clothing is allowed based upon weather conditions, but uniforms must still distinguish teams.
    • There are NO goalkeepers
    • The Goal Arc shall be 1 yard wide of the goal on each side and 3 yards from the goalmouth.
    • The Goal Arc is a non standing area. Players should not be allowed to STAND within the Goal Arc area or in an area directly outside of it.
    • Substitutions: Unlimited and at any stoppage in play.
    • Playing Time: Each Player SHALL play a minimum of 50% of total playing time. Please refer to our Playing Time Policy for futher info.
    • Kick in(U5 & U6): Used to restart play. Considered as a direct free kick with the opponents at least 4 yards away from the ball until played. Should be used for sideline restarts.
    • Throw-in (U7 & U8): Used to restart play when the ball crosses over sidelines. Two hands on ball, ball must pass directly overhead with both feet remaining on the ground. This should be a retry and used as a learning experience. Coaches may agree to use kick-ins rather than throw-ins prior to the game, but throw-ins are encouraged.
    • Goal Kicks: Opposing teams should be behind midfield and use it like a buildout line.

  • U9-U10 Game Rules

    • # of Players: 7v7
    • Ball Size: 4
    • Game Length: 2 25-min halves
    • Goal Size: 6.5' x 18.5'
    • Throw-ins: Used to restart play when the ball crosses over sidelines. Two hands on ball, ball must pass directly overhead with both feet remaining on the ground.
    • Buildout Line: The buildout line is added  to the field at the U9 level.
    • Anytime the goalkeeper gains possession of the ball, all opposing players must leave the buildout area. The opposing team can cross the buildout line when play resumes as normal. No punting from the goalkeeper.
    • Goal Kicks: Opposing teams shall be behind the buildout line and can enter the goal area when the ball is put in play.
    • Headers: No deliberate heading of the ball. (Indirect free kick at spot of infraction)
    • Offsides: Offsides will now be in effect. Offensive players may not be closer to the goal than the ball and or last field player from the opposing team. THIS WILL ONLY BE ENFORCED ONCE PAST THE BUILDOUT LINE.
    • Playing Time: Each Player SHALL play a minimum of 50% of total playing time. Please refer to our Playing Time Policy for futher info.

  • U11-U12 Game Rules

    • # of Players: 9v9
    • Ball Size: 4
    • Game Length: 2 30-minute halves
    • Goal Size: 7' x 21'
    • Headers: No deliberate heading of the ball. ( Indirect free kick at spot of infraction)
    • Offsides: The buildout line is no longer used at the U11-U12 age level. In the U11-U12 age group and beyond, offsides will be enforced if a player is closer to the opponent's goal line than both the ball and the second-to-last defender when the ball is played to them, unless they are in their own half. 
    • Playing Time: Each Player SHALL play a minimum of 50% of total playing time. Please refer to our Playing Time Policy for futher info.

  • U13-U14 Game Rules

    • # of Players: 9v9
    • Ball Size: 5
    • Game Length: 2 35-minute halves
    • Goal Size: 8'x24'
    • Headers: Deliberate heading of the ball is no longer prohibited at the U13-U14 level.
    • Offsides: Offsides will be enforced if a player is closer to the opponent's goal line than both the ball and the second-to-last defender when the ball is played to them, unless they are in their own half.
    • Playing Time: Each Player SHALL play a minimum of 50% of total playing time. Please refer to our Playing Time Policy for futher info.
